Το hashtag #ProudBoys στο twitter, το οποίο χρησιμοποιούν τα μέλη της ακροδεξιάς ομώνυμης ομάδας… καταλήφθηκε από περήφανα γκέι αγόρια που ποστάρουν φωτογραφίες με τους έρωτες της ζωής τους, ως ένδειξη διαμαρτυρίας απέναντι στην οργάνωση.
Τον Νοέμβριο του 2018, όπως εξηγεί η Συραγώ Λιάτσικου στο άρθρο της «Proud Boys: Ποιοί είναι οι ακροδεξιοί που ο Τραμπ καλεί σε ετοιμότητα απέναντι στους αντίφα;», το FBI κατέταξε τους Proud Boys στο τόξο των εξτρεμιστικών οργανώσεων, ενώ το Southern Poverty Law Center τους κατατάσσει στις ομάδες που προάγουν το μίσος. Η Anti-Defamation League περιγράφει την ομάδα ως μισογύνικη, ισλαμοφοβική, τρανσοφοβική και αντιμετανανστευτική.
