Πλήθος κόσμου στο Βατικανό προκειμένου να προσκυνήσουν τη σορό του Πάπα Φραγκίσκου. Την Παρασκευή, η προσέλευση των καθολικών πιστών στον ναό, θα επιτρέπεται μέχρι τις 7 το απόγευμα. Η σορός μεταφέρθηκε το πρωί της Τετάρτης στη βασιλική εκκλησία του Αγίου Πέτρου.

Το Σάββατο, αμέσως μετά την ολοκλήρωση της κηδείας, η σορός του Αργεντινού ποντίφικα πρόκειται να ενταφιαστεί στην εκκλησία Σάντα Μαρία Ματζιόρε, κοντά στον κεντρικό σιδηροδρομικό σταθμό της Ρώμης, σύμφωνα με την επιθυμία που εξέφρασε ο ίδιος ο «πάπας των φτωχών», με τη διαθήκη του.
Πρέπει να σημειωθεί, τέλος, ότι πολλοί πιστοί οι οποίοι βρέθηκαν στην πλατεία του Αγίου Πέτρου, μιλώντας με τους δημοσιογράφους εξέφρασαν την επιθυμία να ξεκινήσει, το γρηγορότερο δυνατό η διαδικασία αγιοποίησης του Φραγκίσκου. Όπως είχε συμβεί, δηλαδή, μετά τον θάνατο του Ιωάννη Παύλου Β΄, πριν από ακριβώς είκοσι χρόνια.
